Summary:
Responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration and testing of cathodic protection systems in a manner that supports Enable Midstream s mission, vision and objectives. Responsible for developing programs and/or operating procedures to mitigate internal and external corrosion.
Primary Duties:
Under supervision, plans, conducts and leads assignments of a complex nature.
Reviews progress and evaluate results.
Recommends changes in procedures.
Mentors and assists in training of junior technicians.
Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures.
Assignments are broader in nature requiring originality and ingenuity
Mentors and assists in training of junior Technicians.
Identifies, reports, and takes immediate action to correct unsafe pipeline conditions.
Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.
Ensures compliance with DOT, OCC and all applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
Maintains strict surveillance and enforcement of all safety and environmental rules and procedures at all times.
Ensures tailgate safety meetings are conducted prior to starting activities.
Maintains accurate records pertaining to internal and external corrosion.
Performs periodic surveys such as structure to soil, soil resistivity, coupon tests, riser surveys, rectifier readings and atmospheric corrosion surveys.
Assists in performing scheduled routine maintenance, preventative maintenance and equipment repairs.
Working Conditions:
May be required to work overtime and weekends and holidays.
May be required to work non-standard work schedules to include on- call and call-outs.
May be required to lift fifty (50) pounds or more.
May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.
Subject to operation of a personal computer for extended periods.
May require travel.
Must be able to move about on foot and follow safety and emergency response procedures.
May be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet, underground and in confined spaces.
Must have or obtain all required certifications
Minimum Requirements:
Associates Degree or High School Diploma and 3 years of equivalent experience.
Six (6) years directly related experience in a corrosion position.
Valid State Driver''s License.
Preferred Skills:
Current Enable Midstream, OG&E and CenterPoint Energy employees will be given preference
Basic knowledge in the identification of various forms of internal and external corrosion anomalies.
Basic knowledge in the application and analysis of running smart pigs.
Basic knowledge in troubleshooting and repair of all types of equipment pertaining to corrosion technician trade.
Possess effective communication skills necessary to promote compliance with procedures and cooperation with individuals at various levels throughout the organization.
Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
High level of understanding of corrosion and cathodic protection theory.
Understand basic electricity, electrical laws, circuits, basic chemistry, and electrochemistry.
Promote a positive teamwork environment.
NACE International Certification Level 2
Completion of required Operator Qualification modules
Effective communications in speech and writing, in person, via telephone, correspondence, email, fax, etc.
