Position Overview:
Under general direction of the Chief Information Officer, this position leads all communications for the Office of Information Technology (OIT).
Works collaboratively with CIO, IT leadership, project teams, and key partners to develop and oversee the communications program and market the branding strategy of OIT.
Responsible for driving effective communications strategies and campaigns for OIT and helping to increase adoption and understanding of major change efforts related to new and updated tools and processes.
Effectively collaborates across technology teams and business units through excellent communication skills, diplomacy and a positive attitude.
Department Specific Job Functions:
Responsible for developing and implementing strategic external and internal OIT communications plans.
Provides expert counsel and support to the CIO and IT Executive Council (ITEC).
Provides vision, leadership, counsel, and project management support for communications planning, digital communications, materials development and stakeholder outreach.
Leads the development and implementation of communication plans, messages, materials, presentations, and program strategies to reach diverse audiences in promoting division initiatives and increase awareness and utilization of the client resources and materials.
Manages technology service incident communications from initiation to conclusion.
Leads communications and meets with the team, stakeholders, customers, and others to provide updates.
Craft communication templates and develop a portfolio of pre-approved templates for customer outreach.
Establishes and maintains effective relationships with end users, team members and/or stakeholders.
Recognize opportunities to create greater engagement with OIT clients.
Researches content both organizationally and at the IT professional level that will resonate with targeted audiences.
Writes, produces, and appropriately distributes communications materials.
Develops clear and compelling senior leader and division-wide communications and campaigns.
Responsible for content maintenance and administration of OIT official social media accounts and webpages.
Ensures OIT communications align with University Communications policies and processes.
Monitors, analyzes and reports on the progress of service delivery; takes a customer-centric approach to problem solving; solicits customer feedback to improve service; and responds to customer needs.
Assesses, identifies and recommends innovative solutions that provide continuous improvement in the organization.
Creates and maintains documentation including diagrams, operational and support procedures.
Document all communication activities pertaining to plans and/or incidents.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts.
Requires the application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results.

years of experience with leading, planning, including program development and innovation, program prioritization, and assessment.
Appropriate profession accomplishments and credentials.
Must have previous management experience.
Qualifications / Experience Preferred:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in marketing, public relations, communications, graphic design, computer science or related field.
Experience working with executive leadership to develop large scale communication strategies and materials.
Experience communicating about technology system and process changes for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Background in technical writing a plus.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Excellent verbal, written, organizational skills, and ability to interface directly with executive level staff.
Ability to work independently or with specialized groups.
Strong proofreading and editing skills.
Ability to think analytically and problem solve through critical thinking.
Ability to think creatively and provide innovative solutions to challenges/problems with limited supervision.
Strong communications plan development, project management, and implementation skills, detail and deadline-oriented.
Demonstrated experience developing strategic communication plans for multiple delivery methods and formats including videos, web content, scripts, feature articles, launch announcements, PowerPoint and other presentation materials.
Ability to explain technical terms in everyday language.
Continually updates skills and knowledge relative to the position and the technology industry.

This position may at times be on-call 24x7x365 and requires the successful candidate to have high-speed internet access to their residence, and maintain a smart phone on which to receive telephone calls, email, SMS messages from servers and authorized OIT personnel.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
